Secondary School

Pupils normally transfer to secondary school between the ages of 11 and 12, in order to have the opportunity to complete at least 4 years of secondary education.

Approximately 6 months prior to leaving primary there is a review to which all agencies including parents and pupils are invited to attend to discuss the pupils future needs.

Decisions will then be made with the parents’ consent as to the best placement for the pupil.

In their final year at primary, the leavers make several visits to the intended secondary school in order to become familiar with it before transferring the following August.
